So, I’m sitting here in the two story Nokia booth at E3, waiting for an exec to turn up. Nokia has clearly spent an absolute fortune on the booth and it looks really cool but there are so many details that they’ve screwed up I can now understand how the NGage could happen. The “lounge” chair that they’ve put me in looks pretty cool and takes up a heap of space but is actually plastic and uncomfortable. The cup of coffee that the pretty young assistant has just given Evil Monster has mould on it! Ha, she hasn’t even noticed. I guess EM will have to go make himself another one. Fantastic.
Ah, turns out the assistant we saw write down our appointment yesterday is so incompetent that our exec is double-booked. Or possibly he’s just too hung over to talk, it’s hard to say.
I went to their press event on Tuesday night too. The best they could come up with for a tchotcke was a roll of self-adhesive bandage. Sure, I wasn’t actually expecting a phone… but bandage? I guess the idea was that their content is so compelling you might wear your thumbs down to nubs but to me it said that the UI in the new ngage platform is so badly compromised by being a phone that you’re likely to dislocate something trying to play Snake Extreme or whatever their lead title is on this so-called platform.
